Our client, a family office spanning generations, is seeking a driven Legal Assistant to join their lean and critical legal team in a #3 capacity, reporting to the General Counsel and the Legal Director. The primary focus of this position will be on the governance and compliance of the family’s trust and other structures, encompassing both US-based and offshore entities. Responsibilities:
- Supporting the Legal Director in various daily responsibilities spanning the entire range of functions within the legal group
- Assisting the Legal Director in organizing and managing all legal documents, including structure charts, trust indentures, corporate governance documents, and records
- Collaborating with the investment team to establish and implement protocols and procedures for assessing potential investments
- Drafting investment and distribution memoranda, overseeing the KYC/AML process for trusts and individual family members, and reviewing governance of family entities and associated record-keeping
- Managing and coordinating with all other advisors for principals, such as lawyers, auditors, and tax advisors
- Supporting the Legal Director with any ad hoc projects, which may include tasks related to estate planning
Qualifications:
- At least 2 years of related paralegal, legal assistant, or corporate governance experience required
- Experience in a family office is not necessary, but a commitment to working in a small team environment is essential
- Adaptable, proactive, capable of independent work with minimal supervision, and quick to learn
- Eagerness to learn is key
- Ability to work across multiple detailed projects and collaborate effectively with senior colleagues critical
Compensation Expectations: $120-175K base; $150-225K all-in
