Senior Transaction Manager – Real Estate (New York, NY): Our client, a successful credit investment manager with over $30B in AUM is eager to bring on an experienced legal professional to join their growing team, here in NYC. This hire will become an integral part of the legal team, managing the firm’s legal process for the acquisition, financing, and sale of commercial real estate investments. The candidate of choice will report to and work closely with the General Counsel, providing exposure to structuring, closing, and securitizing of real estate loans and the operations of real properties.

  • Oversee the firm’s external transaction counsel to close loans originated by the business and acquire/manage/dispose of real estate assets; manage the structuring, origination, and securitization of commercial real estate transactions
  • Prior to every closing, review and approve loan documentation, purchase and sale agreements and legal diligence; review and approve sale documentation prior to every securitization (confirmation of reps and rep exceptions and DDQ information)
  • Review, approve and draft loan applications and equity letters of intent; track closing process and progress of all transactions in-house
  • Draft and/or review other legal documents, such as confidentiality agreements, third party engagement letters, and scopes of work; Negotiate the firm’s participations in third party loan originations, syndications, warehouse and similar financing arrangements
  • Coordinate with multiple teams, including but not limited to Compliance, Accounting, Underwriting, Investor Relations and Board of Directors; become a resource to the team, focusing on origination deal teams on legal issues


  • 3 – 7 years of relevant experience in private practice or in a transaction management seat, at a similar alternative financial institution; JD required
  • Experience working on commercial real estate debt and equity transactions and documents; knowledge of the securitization process
  • Ability to create and meet deadlines, in a fast-paced dynamic environment; this person must be comfortable taking initiative and ownership of work product
  • Superior communications skills, as this seat will work across all levels within the firm; strong problem-solving skills 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and other related computer skills
