Fund Accountant/Operations Associate, New York, NY

Fund Accountant/Operations Associate (New York, NY): Our client, a Long/Short Equity Hedge Fund based in Manhattan, is looking to hire an eager and motivated professional to join their accounting and operations team.  The role will report into the Fund Controller and Assistant Controller while offering an individual exposure over the fund accounting, management company accounting, and operational functions of this shop.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with fund administrator on daily fund accounting and operational duties and month-end close; prepare daily P&L reconciliations, derivative settlements and margin reconciliations
  • Review T&E claims, related documents, and derivative settlements while reconciling financing; prepare and book reimbursements and fee income utilizing QuickBooks
  • Reconcile and process corporate actions and proxies; perform daily portfolio cash and position reconciliations and execute resolution of trade settlement issues
  • Assist with preparing various regulatory filings and other compliance related reporting obligations; prepare reporting of daily fund performance (internally and externally) across multiple products
  • Analyze daily trade breaks and assist with resolutions to settlement issues; assist the firm’s Controller and office manager with payables (invoice review, reconciliations, booking of payables and expenses)

Qualifications:

  • 2 - 4 years of combined accounting/finance and hedge fund experience
  • Public accounting experience and CPA or current eligibility to take the CPA exam is strongly preferred
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, must be proficient in Excel; extensive product knowledge of: equities, futures, derivatives and FX
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to multi-task; must be a team player and comfortable communicating efficiently and effectively with all levels of management
