Senior Fund Accountant, Connecticut

Senior Fund Accountant (Connecticut): Our client, a successful hedge fund with over $1B in AUM, is looking to bring on a bright accounting professional to join their growing team. This new hire will report to the Chief Financial Officer, providing assistance with monthly NAV and annual audit processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the firm’s full general ledger (cash, positions, interest, and expense accruals); oversee daily trades/breaks, cash reconciliations and positions
  • Calculate estimated and actual profit loss, management fee and incentive compensation that involve: hurdle rates, high-water marks, accruals, waterfalls etc.; provide support to other financial control, compliance and operations functions as necessary 
  • Conduct corporate actions; prepare materials for and participate in the valuation committee
  • Coordinate third-party administrator monthly NAV process for fund entities; reconcile all administrator books and records with internal records while meeting all reporting cycle targets
  • Work closely with third-party tax advisors to supplement tax positions for both management company and fund entities; review tax documents (K-1’s and form 1065)

Qualifications:

  • 4 – 7 years of relevant experience within financial services, preferably from a Hedge Fund; bachelors degree from a reputable university with a focus on accounting or finance
  • CPA is required; knowledge using Enfusion, Excel and other accounting systems
  • Must have an understanding of GAAP guidelines and valuation of financial products (equities, derivatives, corporate credit); proficient in scalable process definition
  • Strong problem-solving, communication and project management skills; ability to think broadly about the business and make an impactful contribution to a complex and growing firm
