Investment Advisor

Director of Operational Due Diligence, New York, NY

Director of Operational Due Diligence (New York, NY): Our client, an investment advisor with over $5B in assets under advisory, is seeking to hire an entrepreneurial, well-rounded, and motivated professional to join their team in New York in an Operational Due Diligence capacity.  The candidate of choice will report to the CFO, work closely with the investment team, and interface regularly with CFOs/CCOs/COOs of other asset managers. 

 

Key Points:

·         Firm is extremely stable due to their sticky assets; they advise ultra-high net worth family offices and individuals on how to allocate their assets

·         This person will have full autonomy as the only dedicated ODD professional in the firm 

·         Organization offers a tremendous package including great hours (8:30am-5:00/5:30pm), 100% paid for benefits, and a competitive compensation package 

·         Ability to do light traveling to the domestic offices of fund managers 

Responsibilities:

·         Perform ongoing due diligence on investment managers inclusive of private equity firms, long only managers, hedge funds, mutual funds etc.

·         Conduct on-sight meetings including interviews with CFOs, CCOs, COOs and other key executives to assess operational controls, policies and procedures

·         Review audited financial statements, regulatory filings, fund documents, and background checks

·         Regularly interact with third-party manager that conducts bi-annual reviews of managers and provides status updates on new findings 

·         Build and maintain relationships with managers and keep up-to-date with manager-related and industry news

Qualifications:

·         At least 3 years of experience in public audit, operational due diligence or accounting within the investment management space 

·         CPA is preferred and exposure to various investment funds is key (private equity, long-only, short-only, venture capital)

·         Familiarity with private placement memoranda, limited partnership agreements, due diligence questionnaires

·         Strong interpersonal skills as this person will be communicating with all levels of management
