Investment Advisor

Operations Associate, New York, NY

Operations Associate (New York, NY): Our client, an investment advisor with over $16 billion in assets, is looking for an Operations Associate to join their team. The position is open due to an internal promotion as well as the firm’s increasing assets and an initiative to build out a robust team-minded infrastructure. The firm boasts an impressive track record and has extremely low turnover due to its positive and encouraging work environment. This individual will join an existing team of three individuals and assist with the overall securities operations functions for the firm’s institutional clients. Specifically, the Operations Associate will be responsible for handling trade settlements and reconciliations, pricing securities, processing wires, interfacing with the firm’s custodians/bankers and their online systems, researching trade related issues, assisting with the creation of internal and external reports on a monthly and quarterly basis, producing presentations with the collaboration of other teams, and updating the department’s Operations Manual. Additionally, the firm puts heavy emphasis on advancing workflows, so the Operations Associate will help to automate processes and improve procedures done by the group through the use of Excel (VBA and macros), Advent Axys, FactSet, and Bloomberg AIM (with Java). Finally, the Operations team often helps other departments internally with ad hoc work such as: assisting with new account openings; providing compliance reporting; and preparing marketing materials. This is an exceptional opportunity for an individual with less than 2 years of administrative Securities Operations experience to join a thriving and busy department. The candidate should have familiarity with investment products (equities and fixed income ideally) as well as very strong Excel skills. The ability and desire to help drive process improvements, cross-train for coverage, and work as a team is imperative to this work culture so the individual should be eager to learn and contribute. A “no task too small” mentality is also necessary.
