Assistant Controller, New York, NY

Assistant Controller (New York, NY):Our client, an established and reputable private equity firm with over $10B in AUM, is seeking an Assistant Controller to join their team to oversee the management company accounting functions.  The firm’s accounting team currently handles the management company accounting responsibilities together so this will be a first time hire for a fully dedicated management company accounting professional.  The firm prides itself on being a “family first” place to work; the team works hard but makes sure that their employees meet their household responsibilities as well.  The Assistant Controller will be responsible for a variety of tasks inclusive of: preparing monthly reporting packages; enhancing the current General Ledger system; preparing the annual budget forecasts and analyses; overseeing A/P, quarterly billing of the portfolio companies, and A/R; handling tax matters affecting the management company; working with the VP of Finance on HR and benefit matters; reviewing employee expense reporting; handling bank reconciliations; reviewing portfolio company board compensation packages; conducting research on technical accounting matters; and overseeing the Profit Share Plan accounting and tax preparation.  The ideal candidate will have 2 years in public audit coupled with 2-4 years of direct accounting experience out of a private equity firm or fun administrator.  Individuals with straight management company accounting work will also be considered.  The firm prides themselves on hiring extremely motivated and driven individuals so this individual should be a proactive thinker, produce meticulous work, have the ability to manage deliverables, and have exceptional communications skills.  A CPA and Accounting Degree are desired.
